The aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) posts are aghast over the surge in examination charges. The candidates have termed the practice of ever increasing fee as exploitation of unemployed youth.
“They are exploiting unemployed youth by charging huge amount of money as examination,” Aijaz Rather, an aspirant from Bandipora said.
A candidate is charged Rs 400/- per post which is four times more than the charges applied by SSC.
The candidates claim that for each post, they have to pay separate fee and then same exam is conducted for all the Common Graduate level posts.
“If they are investing only on conducting a single exam, why are they charging separately for each individual post,” another aspirant, Khursheed Ahmad of Kupwara asked.
SSB has received a serious backlash for conducting exams in two sessions on single day. “They put us in huge inconvenience by forcing us to appear in two different exams having entirely different syllabus on a single day,” Khurshid said. “We have to reach from one center to another in just two hours for appearing in two exams which becomes difficult at times.”
Some candidates had exam centers for two sessions in Jammu and Srinagar. “How is it possible for such a candidate to reach two places on the same day within two hours,” Javed Ahmed, a candidate who had applied for teacher and accounts assistant said.
Last week JKSSB issued a notice for conducting of various exams on 23rd of June 2016 in two sessions—9:30am to 12 pm and 2:30pm to 5pm. Some of these exams have been pending as long back as 2011.
There are many applicants who are scheduled to appear in both sessions and have the centers for two sessions at different locations.
The candidates who say that it will be very inconvenient for them to rush from one center to another, which can be many miles apart, in less than two hours, demand that the board should one session on a given day so that they can conveniently appear in all the exams.
