SRINAGAR: Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Professor Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, was on Tuesday featured in the Stanford University’s list of top global scientists.
A globally recognised expert in Glaciology, Hydrology, and Climate Change, Professor Romshoo with a PhD in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Tokyo and over 36 years of research experience, he has played a role in glacier studies, water resource management, and climate change research, particularly in the Himalayan region.
His career has earned him awards such as the National Geosciences Award, the Satish Dhawan Award, and the Kasumigaura International Prize. Professor Romshoo has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, and the Indian Society of Geomatics. With over 265 peer-reviewed publications and 28 Ph.D. students mentored, he has contributed to scientific research in Earth Sciences.
