The District Magistrate, Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer, on Friday said that District Administration is strictly adhering to guidelines (SOP’s) in the areas declared COVID-19 Red zones in the district. He said that the 4th door to door screening cum surveillance work in red zones is under completion and all the contacts have been traced. The purpose is to contain the spread of community transmission by enforcing restrictions already imposed under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

He said restrictions in the red zone areas including  Khaigam, Sangerwani, Abhama of Tehsil Rajpora and  Gudoora, Chandgam, Pinglena and Parigam of Tehsil Pulwama have been intensified till final screening and surveillance of all persons belonging to these areas is complete.

He said no outward or inward movement is allowed in these areas and movement across the red zone boundaries is for essential supplies  (medical, grocery, vegetables), medical emergencies, fumigation, sanitation, and of enforcement and survey personnel.

It is pertinent to mention that the administration has put in place a scientific and comprehensive mechanism in all these areas to ensure all requirements and needs of residents are covered as long as these areas remain under restrictions. He added hundreds of officials have been deputed in these areas for the convenience of people, whereas screening and surveillance is under process which will be completed in next few days.

DM hailed the role of health officials, Municipal Committee, officials of various departments and volunteers in helping the administration in containing the COVID-19 in these areas.

Earlier, District Authorities booked  8 persons for violating the government orders in  Red zones, where section 269 IPC( unlawfully or negligently doing something which is likely to spread infection of any dangerous disease to life), section 270 IPC ( malignant act likely to spread infection of dangerous disease to life), section 271 IPC (knowingly disobeying any quarantine rule) and section 188 IPC ( for disobeying the Government orders) have been invoked.

To ensure coordination Joint control rooms, with dedicated nodal officers have been established and people from Red zone areas have been asked to contact   24*7 COVID Control Room (01933240412, 01933240912) for  COVID-19  queries and emergencies.

Moreover People hailing from the Red zone villages have been asked to contact round the clock (24*7) District Emergency Control room in case of any grievance regarding the essential services & other related issues on Landline No 01933- 240354.
