Striking ‘secular’ cord, congress Prez candidate seeks votes in Srinagar

Five-time Member of Parliament who is the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) nominee for President of India in the 2017, Meira Kumar on Sunday Congress, National Confrence and other Independent candidates in Srinagar.  

Later she along with core group held a press conference in SKICC Srinagar.

The union of 17 Indian political parties to back me for presidency has come into existence to safeguard the ideologies and principles that unite India as one, Meira Kumar, said.

“If communal forces are not stopped then coming days in India will be dark,” she said.

She said she appealed the members of parliament and legislative assembly to rise above politics and back her for presidency to save ideology of India.

She said that the hearts of Kashmiries are beautiful and she hopes that peace returns to valley soon.

 

Later National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said that communalism is at its peak in India and they pray to Allah for repentance. “We hope that communalism is defeated so that every citizen of India can live in dignity.”
