Structure Collapses Near Humayun’s Tomb, Several Feared Dead

   

SRINAGAR:  A structure near the boundary wall of Humayun’s Tomb collapsed on Friday, trapping several people under the debris.

According to Superintending Archaeologist RK Patel of the ASI’s Delhi Circle, as per NDTV report said that, the incident involved the roof and side wall of a mosque adjacent to the boundary wall. “It is neither part of the Tomb complex nor located on ASI-monitored premises. However, the gates were opened to facilitate rescue operations,” he said.

Police sources confirmed that several people have been reported dead and over 11 people have been rescued so far, while multiple teams continue search and relief efforts at the site.

Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a mid-16th-century mausoleum and a popular tourist attraction in the capital.
