Students of Government High School Dardkote area of Uri town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the education department for their failure to provide adequate teaching staff.

Students of GHS Dardkote Uri protesting against shortage of teachers.

Scores of the students assembled outside the school and raised slogans in favour of their demands. They also blocked the vehicular movement of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad for hours.

“Hundreds of students study here in this institution and only 5 teachers are available to them. Three posts of teachers are lying vacant”, said a protesting student.

The protesting students said due to a shortage of teachers their precious time is being wasted. They said whenever they met the educational authorities they assured them of doing the needful but they do nothing.

However, the students have appealed the concerned authorities to intervene in the matter, so that their students don’t get affected.

“On one side the Government is claiming that it will provide proper education to children especially of the rural area but on the grounds, their claim has been proved false and fake,” said another student.

According to the Mohammad Syed Khan Zonal Educational Officer Julla Uri, there are 100 master grade teachers and RT posts vacant in the Julla zone.
