Intense clashes erupted between forces and students of Higher Secondary School Shopian on Thursday.
Locals said that Police resorted to tear gas shelling on the students who pelted stones on them.
They said that students came out and started raising slogans against the militant and civilian killings at Kakapora.
They said that the students tried to enforce a shutdown in the town. In the meantime two police vehicles reached the spot which were also stoned by the agitated students.
The policemen resorted to tear smoke shelling to disperse the students triggering clashes.
