Students of Kashmir University belonging to different departments on Tuesday staged a protest inside the varsity against the rape of a three-year-old child in Sumbal area of Bandipora district.

The protesting students  said, “we will not tolerate such crimes in our society and there should be a death sentence for such crimes.”

“The issue is being politicized and used as a vote bank by some persons,” the students said.

Similarly, the students of Degree College Kangan also staged a protest demonstration in Kangan demanding justice to the victim.

Reports said that scores of the students marched from the college campus Margund to the main Market Kangan and staged a sit-in Main Chowk Kangan, in solidarity with the victim.

Meanwhile, students from north Kashmir’s Boniyar, Uri took to streets and demanded that strenuous punishment be given to the accused.

Besides condemnations, various political and socio-religious parties demanded strict action against those responsible for the act.
