SRINAGAR: The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) provides partial funding for Master’s and PhD students at the University of Manitoba, Canada, for the year 2025. This fellowship is open to both local and international students and applies to most graduate programmes, except for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and programmes in the Faculty of Medicine.

Deadlines vary by department, so applicants should check with their specific department for exact dates. To apply, students must first secure admission to a Master’s or PhD programme at the University of Manitoba. Departments will then nominate eligible students for the UMGF based on academic merit.

To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or higher if required by their department) and must be either provisionally admitted or enrolled as full-time Master’s or PhD students at the University of Manitoba. The fellowship is open to students of all nationalities.

The duration of funding depends on the number of months completed in the programme. Master’s students who have completed 0–4 months are eligible for up to 24 months of funding, while those who have completed 5–16 months are eligible for up to 12 months. Students who have completed more than 16 months are not eligible. For PhD students, those who have completed 0–4 months are eligible for up to 48 months of funding, while those who have completed 5–16 months are eligible for up to 36 months. Students who have completed 17–28 months are eligible for up to 24 months, and those who have completed 29–40 months are eligible for up to 12 months. Students who have completed more than 40 months are not eligible.

The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $14,000 for Master’s students, with a maximum funding amount of $28,000 for up to 24 months. For PhD students, the annual stipend is $18,000, with a maximum funding amount of $72,000 for up to 48 months.
