“Subject to the availability of funds, my priority would be to provide the assistance of all sorts to the flood affected people of Kashmir. There are massive works that need to be executed sans delay and repair the public infrastructure which was damaged during the occurrence of September 2014 floods,” Samoon said, adding that he would tour to different parts of Kashmir valley atleast twice in a week besides holding frequent meetings at the district levels.

Samoon, who was posted as the divisional commissioner of Kashmir on Monday, said the establishment would put its tireless efforts in putting Kashmir back on gear.

“There is a major infrastructure in Kashmir which is damaged and merits our highest concern. Road connectivity needs to be restored besides providing people better health care services, water supplies and freeing the summer capital Srinagar from mess which is dominating the scenes at present,” he said.

Samoon remarked that alternative space would be provided to the road side vendors so that roads in Srinagar could be cleared for the free pedestrian and vehicular movement.

The Div Com maintained that he would try to restore the work culture in government offices in ‘partnership’ with the people in a bid to ensure peoples’ woes are addressed on time.

“The disconnect, which could be seen between the common masses and the government will be bridged so that new horizons of development could be scanned with new hope and optimism,” Samoon added. (KNS)
