First ever Neurosurgical procedure was done at District Hospital Islamabad on Thursday on a 65 year old male patient with Chronic Subdural Haemorrhage with Sub Acute Component with mass effect.

The patient had come with problem of severe headache and weakness in left side of the body from last 5 days. His CT scan showed Chronic Subdural Haemorrhage with Sub Acute Component with mass effect.

While talking to Kashmir Life, Dr Majeed Mirab said that the patient improved immediately in post-operative period. The Neurosurgical Unit operated upon the patient and a burr hole drainage was done. The patient improved considerably in immediate post-operative period and  is conscious, oriented, haemodynimically stable and will be discharged soon.

“This is one of the major surgery for a periphery hospital and the team of doctors have performed a commendable job,” Dr Mirab said.

The team that performed this surgery included Dr Basharat Mujtaba, Neurosurgeon, Dr Nasir Malik Anaesthetist, M Afzal Theatre Assistant.

Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman has said that this surgery is first of its kind that has been performed in whole south Kashmir. He has complimented the hospital administrator and the operative team for achieving this feat and has assured the hospital administration in upgrading the logistics so as quality health care services is being provided to the patients.
