All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani, Monday said that his party and the Hurriyat amalgam “is well aware what to do after I am not around”.

Geelani responded to a question about the reports of his successor being chosen.

“There is a set up,” Geelani answered a query, “and the party (Tehreek-e-Hurriyat), Hurriyat (g) know it very well what do after I am not around.”

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is a party founded by Geelani and his lifetime associate, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in 2004 in agreement with Jama’at-e-Islami. Both were initially associated with the Islamist party.

Geelani was addressing a press conference at his Hyderpora residence-cum office.

Further, Geelani appealed people to make his party and the trust he heads strong. In 2014, Geelani transferred his personal property to newly formed Milli Trust. The Trust has eight members with Geelani as lifetime chairperson. Notably, the property includes Hyderpora residence and office of TeH which is being claimed by Jama’at-e-Islami as well.

Initially, J&K Police didn’t allow media personnel to enter the residence of Geelani. The presser was scheduled at 12 PM, however, the officials present at the spot denied entry to scores of reporters. “We have no permission from our higher ups to allow you in,” one of the cops present said.

But, all of a sudden, the media men were allowed entry around 12:30 PM.
