All Jammu and Kashmir Students Union (AJKSU) on Wednesday in a press statement termed the police move of summoning the students from south Kashmir a “deplorable” move.

The spokesman said that elections in south Kashmir began on April 23, and government forces have summoned dozens of youth and majority of them are students who have been told to report at the police station.

“AJKSU got numerous such complaints especially from Shopain and Pulwama where students are being harassed ahead of polls,” the spokesman said.

Mudasir Dar, AJKSU President said that arrests are pushing the student community to walls, it should be stopped immediately, and those who were arrested should be released.

Meanwhile, the student activist and AJKSU Patron Syed Tajamul Imram has expressed serious concern over the issue and appealed the police authorities to release the arrested students.
