SRINAGAR: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K, Pandurang K Pole, announced and presented a letter to Suresh Raina, who has been appointed as the Youth Voter Awareness Ambassador for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEO stated that Suresh Raina, as a cricket legend and a revered figure in India, wields considerable influence, especially among the youth.

He added, “This influence can be harnessed to encourage more individuals to participate in the electoral process, leading to higher voter turnout and greater civic engagement.”

Addressing the audience at the event, Suresh Raina mentioned that many players from J&K are excelling at both the national and international levels. He expressed hope that, in the coming times, more people from the region would achieve success at national and international levels.

Raina appealed that youth of J&K should step forward and register as voters before December 9, 2023, to actively participate in electing their representatives. Stressing the importance of a healthy democracy, he emphasised the need for a substantial voter turnout.

The Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, also attended the event.
