A suspected militant was killed in a gunfight in Gurez sector of Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir, reports said on Saturday.
Defence sources claimed that a group of militants was intercepted close to the Line of Control in Gurez sector during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday by the soldiers.
They said that militants opened fire triggering a gunfight. One suspected militants was killed in the encounter the body of whom was recovered later, they said.
