A police man was critically injured when suspected militants shot him in the Islamabad town in south Kashmir on Tuesday.

Police spokesman told Kashmir Life that the police man has been shifted to hospital.

The incident happened at Lal chowk area in Islamabad which has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, an Army officer and a policeman were killed while another police officer received critical injuries in two separate incidents in south and north Kashmir on Monday.

Major Rahul Singh of Rashtriya Rifles died in Panchalthal area of south Kashmir’s district Islamabad during a cordon and search operation.

Police sources said that on specific information, a cordon and search operation was launched by Rashtriya Rifle in Panchalthal during which Major Rahul Singh sustained fatal head injury due to 10-15 meters fall caused by extreme slippery terrain compounded by inclement weather.

In another operation in Zoonarewshi area of district Kupwara, near the Line of Control, a Special Operation Group (SOG) cop was killed while as an Assistant Sub-Inspector received critical injuries.

Sources said SOG and Maratha regiment Monday evening launched a cordon and search operation in Zoonarewshi area. They said as the cordon was being established, militants hiding in the area opened fire on the joint party. One SOG personnel was killed while an ASI was critically injured.
