Suspected Poisoning Triggers Mass Fish Deaths at Shopian Farm

   

SRINAGAR: In a suspected poisoning case, nearly 3,500 fish were found dead at a fish farm in Ganowpora village of Balpora Shopian, in South Kashmir owned by Bilal Ahmad Lone.

The estimated loss has been pegged at around Rs 4 lakh.

According to locals unknown persons allegedly entered the farm during the night and put poison in the water, leading to the sudden death of the fishes.

Bilal Ahmad Lone said that he discovered the massive loss early in the morning and immediately informed local authorities.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend the culprits. (KNC)
