SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Wednesday nominated office bearers for Kashmir Province among whom former lawmaker from Hazratbal Muhammad Syed Akhoon was appointed Senior Vice President.
Akhoon’s anointment came a month after the party dropped him as constituency in-charge of Hazratbal along with his son-in-law Ishfaq Jabbar from Ganderbal. The rapprochement seems to have happened with the former while the latter continues to oppose the party openly.
The party also appointed former deputy speaker Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi as Vice President along with Syed Tauqeer Ahmed, Ahsan Pardesi and Malik Asif Noor.
Also, as per the party, Showkat Ahmed Mir has been reappointed as Provincial Secretary for the third consecutive term – in addition to his responsibility as political secretary to Dr Farooq Abdullah; Ghulam Nabi Bhat as Joint secretary (office affairs); Muhammad Yaqoob Wani as Joint secretary (coordination); and Ghulam Nabi Wani (Telbali) – Convenor, Trade Unions.
