SRINAGAR: In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy J&k team defeated Uttar Pradesh by eight wickets.

Captain Parvaiz Rasool won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first Uttar Pradesh managed to set the total of 124 for five in their allotted twenty overs. Mujtaba Yousuf bowled an economical spell by taking three wickets and considering only 14runs in his four overs. However, Abid Mushtaq and Abdul Samad took one wicket each.

The Jammu and Kashmir team chased the score easily in their 15th over. Abdul Samad scored 54 runs from 35 balls, which includes two boundaries and four sixes while Shubham Khajuria scored 34 runs from twenty-five balls.

J&K will play its  4th match of the tournament on 16 January against Punjab.
