After reviewing the status of drinking water supply and irrigation facilities in Handwara constituency, the minister for PHE, flood control and irrigation, Taj Mohiuddin, addressed a high level meeting of engineers and officers where they discussed the status and pace of completion of these projects in the whole area on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by MLA, Chowdary Mohammad Ramzan.

While addressing the meeting, Taj Mohiuddin, asked engineers to converge all flood protection works with MGNREGA to cover maximum area under flood protection to avoid losses to property and crops. He asked the Irrigation Department to prepare projects to irrigate orchards and karewa lands in the area.

Taj also asked engineers to put Rajwar water supply scheme under NRDWP for funding and starting the work. He also asked for rationalization of schemes so that every area of the constituency is benefitted from these schemes.

The issue of drinking water and irrigation facilities was recently put before in autumn session of the assembly by MLA Handwara, Chowdary Mohammad Ramzaan.
