Flagging off issues for better management of hospitals and healthcare in the state, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi ud Din today stressed the need for rationalizing human resource in medical services for better results to the society. He asked for adoption of Medical Council of India (MCI) norms for better and quality services at the hospitals.

Chairing a joint review meeting of Health and Medical Education Departments here today, the Minister asked for ensuring quality surgical equipments and using generic medicine at hospitals which are in line with the prescribed norms throughout the country.

As per a statement in a separate meeting the Minister reviewed the pace of completion of works on the Jammu Super Specialty Hospital. He specifically reviewed the process of installation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant for Dialysis at the Nephrology unit of the Hospital. He directed the hospital administration to immediately get the plant installed and also complete the remaining works for which he also asked the engineers of Central Public Works Department to comply.

Minister of State for Heath, Shabir Ahmad Khan was also present in the meeting.

As per the statement Taj impressed upon the officers to regularize the tenure of registrars at the GMCs and ensure a roster regime for the same. He asked for immediate shifting of doctors who have overstayed as registrars for a long period.

The Minister advised sharing of human resources between Health and Medical Education Departments in view of the shortage of staff. He suggested checking the huge rush of referrals cases to tertiary care units and ensure that non fatal complicacies are handled at district and sub district hospital levels.

Taj said government is willing to make rules governing the services of doctors more flexible hinting at making amendments in existing rules as well to make their working more comfortable.
