Adding another feather to the cap of Urdu Journalism in Kashmir, the weekly ‘Takhleeq Times’ was launched Monday here. Comprising of four pages, the newspaper provides weekly dose of information pertaining to politics, religion, sports, culture, business etc.

Speaking on the launching ceremony, the Owner, Editor and Publisher of ‘Takhleeq Times’ Bashir Ahmad Tosha  said that having a good share of readers, the Urdu journalism is firmly positioned in the Valley.

Tosha, who also heads the trade body United Unions Front (UUF) added that a huge chunk of traders in Valley keep themselves abreast with daily dose of information through Urdu newspapers.

“The English newspapers also have a strong foothold among the readers here. But, a huge chunk of them (readers) of Urdu newspapers come from the business community. Therefore, keeping in mind the importance of Urdu journalism for readers, particularly the traders, we have launched this weekly. We will pool in our all of resources to highlight the issues plaguing the growth of business sector in the Valley, besides give the readers the information to the best of their satisfaction,” Tosha said.

On the expectations from the weekly, the UUF Chairman replied that being in its initial stage; the newspaper will be run on weekly basis. Subsequently, he added that positive word of mouth regarding the content from the readers will be crucial for publication of ‘Takhleeq Times’ on daily basis.

“The success of my newspaper in the market will depend on the feedback of the readers. If it clicks, then daily issue will be on the cards and we will try our best to give the readers the content to the best of their satisfaction,” Tosha affirmed.
