Secretary Higher Education, Talat Parvez on Sunday called for the promotion of industry-driven skill development courses which are critical for employability and lead to the development of skilled manpower in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Secretary was interacting with representatives of Microsoft India, Tata Consultancy Services, Techno India, and Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) at New Delhi for identification of the knowledge partners for transforming higher education scenario in J&K.

The meeting besides the education partners was attended by Deans of various Universities and other officers of J&K Higher Education Department.

Talat Parvez said that the department endeavours to lay emphasis on skill development courses for the industry-ready force which would require starting courses on applied science and digital technologies which are industry-driven.

He said various steps are afoot to develop a well-trained skill force as per the futuristic demands of the industry.
