Two days after Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik said that Hurriyat leaders were ready for talks with the Central government, National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Monday asserted that talks must be held, reports said on Monday.

“The Governor says Hurriyat has agreed to talks. Then, talks should be held with them,” Business Standard quoted Dr Farooq as having said.

Earlier, Governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday said Hurriyat Conference leaders are ready for talks with Centre.

“You must have seen that the Hurriyat, which once shut the door on Ram Vilas Paswan when he came knocking, are now ready for talks. This is an encouraging sign,” said Malik.
