SRINAGAR: Tanveer-ul-Ahad, a young journalist who had founded the Global News Service (GNS), a local news gathering agency, died on Monday in the SMHS Hospital here. He was 31.

A resident of Muqam Shahwali in Drugmulla belt, Tanveer was a graduate and was affiliated with journalism in north Kashmir. He was initially working with newsagency PIB, al-Safa News and Kashmir Reader. He later founded his own news agency and a daily newspaper, Kashmir Glory.

Tanveer, according to his family sources, reported vomiting diarrhoea on Saturday when he was home. He was shifted to Handwara hospital wherefrom he was shifted to SMHS in Srinagar. He reported massive dehydration and breathed his last in the hospital Monday night.

He was married and is survived by his wife and three minor kids.
