SRINAGAR: Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has been admitted to Gangaram Hospital ahead of the important all-party meet of J&K leaders called by the Prime Minister on June 24.

As per sources, Tara Chand has been admitted after he developed “major health complications post-vaccination” and is reportedly not going to attend the all-party meeting where senior leaders of the Congress party from Jammu and Kashmir including Ghulam Nabi Azad and G A Mir have been invited.

Journalist Kamlajit Sandhu also tweeted about Tara Chand’s health condition and his possible absence from the PM’s meet.

“Home Secy called Tara Chand, 1of 3 leaders from Congress invited for talks with PM on JK. However, Tara Chand informed Home Secy he is unlikely to make it as he has developed major health complications post vaçcination.”

“Tarachand informed that he has been admitted to Gangaram Hospital in Delhi where he is undergoing treatment. The other two Congress leaders happen to be Ghulam Nabi Azad and GA Mir,” she wrote.

Chand was Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2014 in the Omar Abdullah led government. He was holding charge of important ministries including education. A three-time lawmaker from Jammu’s Chhamb assembly segment, Chand has also earlier served as the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
