Block Development Officer Damhal Hanji Pora Tuesday lodged a complaint in Police station Kulgam against incumbent MLA and his workers for ‘thrashing and abusing’ him during duty hours.

In his complaint, BDO Damhal Hanjipora Abdul Rashid Mir according to CNS has alleged that MLA Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami instigated his party workers, “who thrashed me mercilessly for not turning up at his office cum residence in time.”

Mir confirmed that he was beaten to pulp by CPI (M) workers on the behest of Tarigami.  “Tarigami asked me to report at his office cum residence located at Chawalgam Kulgam at 3.30. Due to my engagements with Additional DC Kulgam, I reached an hour late and this infuriated MLA who abused me in front of his assembled workers. Tarigami instigated his workers and they roughed me up,” Mir alleged.

Meanwhile, as a mark of protest, BDO office DH Pora remained shut on Tuesday while the employees did not attend their duties.

When contacted, Tarigami said that he is known for his good conduct and can never do this. He said that some government officials are taking people far-granted and are showing no interest in redressing their problems. “Being the representative of the area, I have every right to question to the conduct of any official,” he said adding that the official was neither abused nor thrashed by people.
