Kulgam District administration on Wednesday organized an award function, “Career Counseling Cum Award of Academic Excellence” function here in the town hall of Kulgam to felicitate the principals of various schools in the district.
MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami who was the Chief Guest presided over the function. The award function was attended by DDC Kulgam Talat Parveez, CEO Kulgam Ashok Kumar, Deputy CEO BA Bhat, all the principals of Higher Secondary Schools & High Schools besides presidents of different student clubs.
The objective of the function was to highlight the achievements and contributions of school principals for taking initiative to promote and implement carrier counseling in their schools.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA MY Tarigami said the students are our future. He said it becomes imperative for every principal to nurture, nourish and develop the talent and skills in the students. The MLA said a strong society is built with educated and well informed skilled workforce. It is time to counsel and empower students in the school about various professions and different career option, he added.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Talat Parvez emphasized on need for out of box thinking by the principals. He asked the principals to set an example for others by helping students to choose their careers.
