While condemning the use of force on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers, who were protesting against the inordinate delay by the government in de-linking their salary from funds received from government of India, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami on Monday rued that this government’s answer to every issue is to use force.
“Several teachers have been reportedly injured in the police action while dozens of them have been detained. It is unfortunate that teachers, who are nation builders, have to face the police lathis for demanding their dues,” said Tarigami in a statement.
“Instead of giving an ear to the problems of its employees’, the Government believes that use of force is the answer to all problems. Terming the police action against protesting SSA teachers as unjustifiable, he called for an immediate end to such bullying tactics adopted by the government,” he said.
“The administrative apathy towards their genuine issues is against justice and fair play. The salary of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers (ReT) recruited under SSA scheme is pending from last three months. And if the teachers demand their salaries, Government instead of immediately releasing it uses force,” Tarigami said.
