A youth was killed when government forces fired on protestors near the encounter site in Tarkawangam area of Shopian district on Wednesday evening.
According to local sources, the youth identified as Umar Kumar, an 8th standard student, was hit by a bullet near the encounter site. Umar, a resident of Pinjura, Shopian died on the spot.
Another youth named Inayat, who was also injured in the forces action, was shifted to Srinagar hospital. His condition is stated to be critical. He was hit in the chest. At least ten other youth were injured during clashes.
