SRINAGAR: A Tata mobile driver lost his life after his four-wheeler vehicle collided with a scooter and both vehicles plunged into a gorge in the Bhadroon area of Doda district on Saturday.

Police identified the deceased driver as Waseem Sajad, 25, son of the late Abdul Rehman of Roti Padarna in Doda.

The injured were identified as Talib Hussain and Aqib Hussain, both sons of Javed Iqbal of Nalwah, Doda and scooter rider Punjab Singh, son of Gandhi Singh of Kashod, Jodhpur, Doda.

“Information was received at Police Station Doda, wherein it was mentioned that one vehicle (JK06A 9732) driven by one Waseem Sajad son of Late Abdul Rehman of Roti Padarna in Doda accompanied by two other passengers namely Talib Hussain and Aqib Hussain, both sons of Javed Iqbal, residents of Nalwah while on way from Doda to Padarna hit a scooty driven by one Punjab Singh son of Gandhi Singh of Kashod Jodhpur, resulting in all the persons rolling down into a deep gorge alongside occupants,” an official said.

All the injured persons were taken to GMC Doda for immediate medical aid, where Waseem Ahmad son of Abdul Rehman was declared as brought dead on arrival, the official added.

A police official  said that they have taken cognisance of the matter for further investigations. (KS)
