Police and CRPF personnel used tear gas to disperse the protesters in Shirmal village of Shopian, just two KM’s from the southern apple town. The incident took place Monday afternoon when locals tried to trespass the barricade laid by the forces on the Shopian-Pulwama road.
As soon as the locals reached near the barricade, the men in uniform used bamboos and gun butts to chase them away, an eyewitness told Kashmir Life on phone. The people retaliated by pelting stones resulting clashes in the area.
The CRPF personnel fired many tear smoke shells to disperse the protester resulting in the chaos. District authorities have rushed extra police force to the area.
