Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing on the funeral procession of Hizb militant Sajid Ahmad Gilkar in Nowhatta area of old city injuring two mourners, reports said.

Sajid Ahmad Gilkar, a resident of Malaratta area of Old City Srinagar along with Aaqib Gul of Gooripora Hyderpora and Javaid Ahmad Shiekh of Beerwah were killed during a gunfight in Redbugh area of Budgam district.

Witnesses said that as the body was being taken to Jamia masjid for funeral prayers forces resorted to tear smoke shelling mourners who raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Reports said that a photojournalist working with Greater Kashmir, Aman Farooq was also hit by pellets while covering the funeral.

They said that Farooq was hit by pellets in his head and arms. “Several persons were injured during the clashes.
