Police Wednesday booked another Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mehraj-ud-din Rubaani under the “lawless law” – PSA and shifted him to the Baramulla sub Jail.
Strongly condemning the government action, Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani demanded immediate release of all the political prisoners and the pro-freedom activists.
According to a statement issued to KNS, “a Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader and the Srinagar district official Mehraj-ud-din Rubaani was today arrested by the Parimpora police station in Srinagar district court complex at the time when he was there to attend his case hearing.
Immediately after his arrest, he was booked under the notorious and lawless law PSA and was immediately on the same day shifted to Baramulla District Jail. It is 8th such incident in the last 3 months that a pro-freedom leader has been slapped with PSA. At present there are dozens of Hurriyat leaders detained under the PSA.”
Terming the PSA detention of Mehraj-ud-din Rubaani as “worst kind of state terrorism”, Syed Ali Geelani said, “detention of the people under this inhuman law is the worst kind of human rights violation but this law is openly and frequently used in Jammu & Kashmir and despite its severe criticism by the international institutions, the state government continue to use this lawless law here. Application of this black law has threatened the freedom and citizen rights of the people and the civilians are detained for years and months without any trial.”
Geelani demanded immediate release of all the political prisoners including Mehraj-ud-din Rubaani and said that the arrests and detentions are increasing the political uncertainty in the state.
