Temperatures Dip Further In J&K, Srinagar Records Coldest Night Of Season At Minus 4.8

SRINAGAR: Minimum temperatures again fall in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday due to clear overnight sky, with the summer capital Srinagar registering the coldest night of the season so far, a Met official said.

“The minimum temperatures dropped further across Jammu and Kashmir today due to clear night sky. These temperatures are likely to drop further as the weather is likely to remain dry,” he said.

The minimum temperature recorded in the Srinagar city was minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest night so far, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 11.0 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 5.2 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 3.3, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 5.0 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 3.2, Banihal minus 3.0, Batote recorded minus 1.3 and Bhaderwah minus 2.8 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
