At least ten protesters sustained injuries, most of them by pellets after violent protests erupted in memander and Shirmal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Thursday.

The clashes erupted after protesters started raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and pelted stones on forces deployed in the areas.

Reports said that government forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing injuring at least ten protesters.

The clashes were going on in the area when reports last came in.

Pertinently, Twelve militants and four civilians were killed in force’s action in Shopian district last Sunday.

The whole valley observed shutdown against the said killings however the south Kashmir district is still observing the strike.
