SRINAGAR: At least ten shops were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire that broke out during the night in Boniyar market of Baramulla district in north Kashmir’s Uri.
Locals are now demanding a dedicated fire and emergency unit in the area.
The blaze started around midnight, prompting locals, police, and army personnel to combat the flames. They were later joined by fire and emergency services.
By the time the fire was brought under control, several shops had been completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is currently being ascertained and investigated.
Local police have taken cognizance of the incident.
Residents have called for the establishment of a dedicated fire and emergency unit in the area, believing that the presence of fire responders could have mitigated the damage caused by the blaze.
