SRINAGAR: Notwithstanding, with its tall claims of providing effective health care in the rural areas, the community health centre at Poshwari in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district could not be completed in ten years.

The construction of the community health centre has been going since last ten years and is still incomplete.

“This incomplete building has become ghost house and also shelter for wild animals,” Mohammad Asadullah Lone, a local resident said.

Ten years ago the then Government of Jammu and Kashmir approved a community health centre in Poshwari Kupwara, as ten years have passed, it is still incomplete. However, authorities have managed CHC in a rented building which too is lacking basic facilities.

However, during the last B2V programme, DC Kupwara visited Poshwari and assured people that the community health centre will be completed soon but no progress has been done on the project except the verbal assurance.

Showing the helplessness, the concerned Sarpanch, Shabir Ahmad Lone said that he has requested administration many times. “All of my pleas fell to deaf ears, there is no progress.”
