Heavy contingent of police and paramilitary CRPF personnel have been deployed in Kupwara on Friday to prevent clashes and protests over the mysterious death of a local man.
Locals said that they are not being allowed to move out freely.
Official sources said that restrictions under Section 144 are in place to “maintain law and order”.
No vehicle is being allowed to the district headquarter were causing trouble to the people.
Violent protests were held in Kupwara for the two consecutive days over the mysterious death of a person allegedly in police custody.
Police have already started investigation in the case.
