SRINAGAR: A young security guard hired by a construction company was injury when SSB men fired at him, mistaking him as a militant. The man has been evacuated to the hospital as residents resorted to a symbolic protest, reports reaching from Banihal said.
The injured security guard has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Naik, a resident of Chapnari village. He has receive a bullet injury in his shoulder.
As the news about the “mistake” spread in the town, the people came out on the roads and registered their protest. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was being operated upon, the last reports reaching from the highway town said.
Naik was working for a construction company that is implementing a railways tunnel project.
Residents said they have asked the police to identify the SSB personnel and bring them to justice Police have assured them that they will register a case and investigate it. It was not immediately known if the case was registered.
