A police spokesperson in a statement said, “The case was filed by Mujeeb Ahmad Koul, son of Noor-ud-Din Koul, a resident of Malaratta. He had reported that on July 5, 2025, unknown persons broke into his residence and stole gold ornaments worth several lakhs. Following the complaint, a case under FIR number 35/2025 was registered at Police Station Nowhatta, and an investigation was initiated under the supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) Nowhatta.”

During the investigation, one suspect identified as Aman Javeed Zogi, a resident of Sarafkadal, was apprehended. “Police said that his involvement was quickly established, which led to the arrest of two other individuals—Asif Zahoor Khan, son of Zahoor Khan, a resident of Wantpora Sazgaripora, and Salik Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Mughal Masjid. Based on the disclosures made by the arrested individuals, police recovered gold ornaments valued between ₹8 to ₹10 lakh, two iPhone 16 Pro devices worth ₹2 lakh, a motorcycle worth ₹1.5 lakh, and cash amounting to ₹42,000,” police said.

Preliminary findings suggest that the recovered items were either bought using the proceeds of the stolen gold or funded by selling it. The investigation is ongoing to trace any additional stolen property and identify any further individuals involved in the case.
