“This is BJP’s and Prime Minister Modi’s win,” said BJP leader Sat Sharma after securing a seat in the Rajya Sabha elections from Jammu and Kashmir, where the National Conference (NC) bagged three of the four seats.

Expressing gratitude to all the MLAs who voted for his party, Sharma said the victory reflected confidence in the BJP’s governance and national vision. “I am grateful to all the MLAs who supported us. I have been elected for six years, and now I will dedicate this time to my people and the country. I will work for the people in the coming six years,” he said after the results were declared.

The BJP secured 32 votes, which Sharma claims that “he won with the highest number of votes in the third notification.” This marks the first Rajya Sabha election held in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370.

When asked about the National Conference’s allegations of horse-trading, Sharma dismissed the claims, saying the party should “look at their own actions” instead of making baseless accusations.

The voting took place earlier in the day for four Rajya Sabha seats, three of which were claimed by the National Conference and one by the BJP.
