Just two teachers are teaching 85 students in a government school in Brenpathri village of Tral in southern district of Pulwama.

Officials said the school was upgraded from primary school to Middle School, but there was no improvement in infrastructure and teachers.

The students said that no teacher is available for important subjects including English, Science and Mathematics which are essential for career building.

“We are facing so many problems from last three years due to the lack of teachers in our school. We requested the authorities so many times regarding this issue but nobody is willing to help us,” said a group of students of the school.

The parents of the children said that they have decided to admit their wards in other schools as the government school has failed to provide them a good quality education and required teachers.

The parents said that that due to remoteness of the area, the education authorities have turned ignored their children.

“Education department is playing with the career our children as they have failed to deploy teachers to the school,” said Sakeena Akhtar, a mother of one of the student.

Zonal Education Officer, Tral, Nazir Ahmad told KNS that he will personally visit the school to look into grievances of the students.

The parents and the students have appealed to the Director School Education Kashmir Dr Shah Faesal to look into the matter.
