Thousands of people on Thursday participated in funeral prayers of two slain militants in Bijbehara and SK Colony Lazibal areas of Anantnag. The slain duo was killed in an encounter with government forces today morning.
Reports said that thousands of people belonging to different areas assembled in SK Colony and Zirpora Bejbehara and attended the last rites of the slain militants identified as Safder Amin Bhat, 25, son of Mohammad Amin, a resident of Zirpara Bijbehara, and Burhan Ahmad Ganie @ Saifullah, 25, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, a resident of Malipora Hablish Kulgam.
The encounter began after a joint team of Army’s 3RR, SOG Anantnag laid siege in Bejbhera after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area. The forces zeroed in the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering an encounter.
Meanwhile, internet services were also suspended for “precautionary measures” and a complete shutdown is being observed in the district.
