Thousands of people on Saturday participated in the last rites of slain militant Shabir Ahmad Dar in Samboora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An eyewitness said that three rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain militant in Samboora village. Thousands of people participated in the prayers, he said.
Scores of men and women wept bitterly as the body was being carried towards its final resting place.
Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised by the mourners as the body was marched towards the local graveyard.
Dar was killed and another militant injured in the gunfight with the government forces at Babagund village Pulwama.
The injured militant is being treated at SMHS hospital in Srinagar where his condition is stated to be very critical.
Meanwhile, the complete shutdown is observed in Pulwama to mourn the killing, while authorities had snapped internet services in parts of the district as a precautionary measure.
