Thousands of people on Monday participated in funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e- Toiba militant Ishfaq Majeed Mir in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
Reports said that thousands of people including women and children attended the funeral prayer of slain militant in Brath village of Sopore.
Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised by the mourners as the body was marched towards the local graveyard.
Ishfaq was killed along with an associate in a 55-hour-long gunfight with the forces in Babagund village of Langate area of north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Sunday.
Five forces personnel and a civilian were also killed during the gunfight. Eleven forces personnel including a CRPF officer were injured in the gunfight.
