Srinagar

Amid massive pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, thousands of people on Tuesday turned up for the funeral prayers of slain LeT militant Yawar Bashir at his native Hablesh village of Kulgam district in southern Kashmir.

Reports said to multiple funerals had to be offered to slain Yawar since the ground where the prayers were offered could not accomodate the people in one go.

They said that the body of Yawar alias Ayaan was draped in a Pakistani flag and was marched through the village amid pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans.

Yawar was killed in a gunfight that erupted after militants attacked an Army patrol on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Bounigam area of Qazigund yesterday.

Two LeT militants, identified as Furqan and Maviya, were also killed in the gunfight. Both were Pakistanis.
