Thousands participate in ‘multiple’ funeral prayers of slain Shopian student

Amid wails and cries, thousands of people, men and women, on Wednesday participated in the funeral prayers of Adil Farooq Magray, a young student who fell to bullets fired by forces in Shopian district in southern part of Kashmir last evening.

Due to massive rush of mourners, a number of rounds of funeral prayers were held. Mourners had turned up form a number of adjoining villages.

During the funeral procession, people raised massive pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India protests. Emotional scenes were witnessed before and after the funeral prayers were held for Adil in his native village of Ganawpora.

Adil, a college student, was hit by a bullet in his chest after forces “indiscriminately” fired to disperse civilian protesters who pelted stones on the forces who had laid siege to a number of villages to take out suspected militants who were hiding in the area. Police was working on specified inputs.
