Thousands participated in the funeral prayers of slain militant Shabir Ahmed in Aghanzpora Awantipora area of district Pulwama on Friday.
Reports said that thousands of the people from Aghanzpor and adjoining villages participated in the funeral prayers of Slain militant Shabir Ahmed, a resident of Aghanzpora Awantipora Pulwama, who was killed during an encounter between the militants and government forces in Ballhama Khunmoh area of Pulwama district.
Local sources said that funeral prayers of Shabir Ahmed were attended by thousands of people at his ancestral village Aghanzpora. Earlier people from adjoining areas marched to Aghanzpora raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
However, a shutdown was also observed in Aghanzpora and adjoining villages of Awantipora. All the business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads, reports claimed.
