SRINAGAR: Thousands of passengers, were stranded on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway on Wednesday after authorities halted Jammu-bound traffic near the Navyug Tunnel in Kulgam district.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded along the highway from the Navyug Tunnel to Mir Bazar following the suspension of traffic, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Traffic authorities did not specify the reason for the prolonged halt. However, traffic is routinely stopped on the stretch during the morning hours to facilitate the movement of Shri Amarnath Yatra convoys.
Officials said efforts were underway to restore traffic movement at the earliest.
